So what is a “Taxi Mass” ? This is an annual tradition which takes place on the last day of the Festival Of the Lady of Guadalupe (which begins the holiday season in Mexico), whereby all the local taxis and Uber drivers take part in a parade. The parade, this year on December 12, begins in the town center and goes to a local chapel, where the priests bless the taxis and sprinkle them with holy water. The taxi drivers decorate their vehicles with shrines to the Lady of Guadalupe, and balloons, streamers, and flowers. As they pass, occupants throw candy and small toys to the children viewing the parade.
